In the morning, during rushhour, I picked up my car in the centre of Auckland. I got a free upgrade to a familycar, so my bike fitted in the trunk easely. I drove up to the Northlands. There were some rather steep roads without sholders, so I was happy I wasn't there by bike anymore. Besides that, it was raining all day long.
But, even with this wet and gray weather, it was a really nice drive. I did several small hikes, none of them took longer than about 1 1/2 hours. Especially the combined tracks to the Whangarei Falls and the Treetop Board Walk along some Kauri trees was very nice. Tomorrow, I will go to the Bay of Islands. I hope the weather will be better. I have heard several forecasts, some said it would be raining all week, others say it will be sunny…
Op weg naar de Northlands

"s Ochtends, tijdens de spits, heb ik m"n auto opgehaald in het centrum van Auckland. Ik kreeg zonder bijbetaling een stationcar, dus m"n fiets paste makkelijk in de bagageruimte. Ik reed naar de Northlands. Er waren een paar flinke steile wegen zonder bermen, dus ik was blij dat ik daar niet op de fiets was. Bovendien regende het de hele dag.
Maar zelfs met dit natte en grijze weer was het een erg mooie tocht. Ik heb een aantal korte wandelingen gemaakt, geen één duurde langer dan ongeveer 1½ uur. Speciaal de gecombineerde tochten naar de Whangarei Falls en de Treetop Board Walk langs een paar Kauri bomen was erg mooi. Morgen ga ik naar de Bay Of Islands. Ik hoop dat het weer beter zal zijn. Ik heb een paar weerberichten gehoord, sommige zeiden dat het de hele week zou gaan regenen, andere zeggen dat het zonnig zal zijn…
